One of my favorite things about Mt. Pleasant is its big city feel paired with small town comforts. Some examples of those comforts are all of the amazing and unique restaurants you can’t find anywhere else. There’s Stan’s when you want a good home-cooked breakfast, Max and Emily’s for a delicious wrap, panini, or sandwich, Midori’s for some exquisite sushi and martinis, Doozies for the ice cream lovers, Mountain Town for fantastic brewery beer and dining, and my personal favorite, Italian oven.

Though there are all kinds of great options for dining you won’t get anywhere else, I am a lover of all things Italian and when I need a good hearty plate of fire-baked pasta or a hand-tossed pizza, Italian Oven is the place. The food at Italian Oven is absolutely delicious and everything is made to order with fresh ingredients.

IMG_20150528_174756002_HDRThe open window into the kitchen IMG_20150528_182053007allows guests to watch their pizza be tossed, topped, and baked in their brick ovens. The tastes are authentic and the restaurant always smells of fresh herbs and fresh baked bread.

Italian Oven is great for families being that every table is covered in white paper and topped with a cup of crayons for coloring. The restaurant is also great for intimate date nights at Risotto’s, which is a special, dimly lit section of the restaurant that provides a cozy but elegant and personal dining experience. The menus are basically the same, but when you enter Risotto’s, it’s a totally different, more formal feel than the rest of the restaurant.

When I’m looking for soup and salad I head to Olive Garden, but when I want an authentic Italian dining experience, friendly, dependable service, and food that tastes like my grandma’s, there’s no place better than Italian Oven.
