10 Reasons to Visit the Mt. Pleasant area in 2019

January 18th, 2019

Meet here in Mt. Pleasant and join us to celebrate our cherished lifestyle. We know this is the place in Michigan to raise our hands, raise our families and raise our glasses. In between our regular festivals and remarkable downtown shops, we’re hiding pockets of the world. Experience adventure by choice or by chance at our area parks, spend quality time with the family at one of our attractions, join the roar of a college game at CMU or discover different flavors at 100 plus restaurants scattered throughout the area.

Here you’ll find an intersection of every walk and stage of life. Mt. Pleasant has a relaxed lifestyle with plenty of the hustle, but none of the hassle. You are welcomed to our community by people who greet you as you walk by and make you feel at home. Here are 10 reasons to visit the Mt. Pleasant area this year:

Outdoor Adventure

Featuring more than 1,000 acres of parkland, the Mt. Pleasant area offers the perfect variety of outdoor experiences to satisfy every adventurer. Deerfield County Park is the ultimate adventurers paradise. Unplug as you explore over 8 miles of hiking and groomed cross country trails, two-disc golf courses, and many river crossings; or, enjoy the sandy beach and claim one of the rustic campsites as you relax along the Chippewa River. If a more tranquil unwind is what you crave, explore one of 22 nature preserves owned and maintained by the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy (CWC). Protecting over 600 acres of wild lands, the CWC offers a variety of outdoor experience like no other, including Bundy Hill, the tallest point in Isabella County. If you prefer to stay close to Downtown, follow the scenic GKB Riverwalk trail as it winds through four interconnected city parks along the Chippewa River; ending at Island Park, a 50-acre multi-use family park perfect for gathering, complete with athletic fields, courts, picnic pavilions, BBQ grills, and a spray-park for the kids.

View our blogs, “Explore more than 1,000 acres of parkland in Isabella County,” and, “Exploring Bundy Hill Preserve, the tallest point in Isabella County by Katelyn Maylee, CWC,” for ways to experience adventure by choice or by chance in the Mt. Pleasant area.

  1. Could be a super place if the State Home property was turned into a Dow Garden like place. Think about it.

Hi Betty. We think the Mt. Pleasant area IS a great place! As for your suggestion, interesting ideas like these should be made to the City of Mt. Pleasant. Definitely something to consider in the future, when it comes to community development projects. Thank you!
