A local’s guide to pizza in the Mt. Pleasant area

The Mt. Pleasant area is home to a variety of delicious pizza joints. Whether you’re looking for hand-fired specialty pies or a cheesy deep dish, the area’s pizzerias has what you need to satisfy your hunger. To celebrate National Pizza Day (February 9), we asked our Meet Mt. Pleasant followers: what’s your favorite, local spots to grab pizza in Isabella County? Here are the answers for their favorite pizza places downtown, around town and new to town:

DOWNTOWN

Pisanello’s Pizza
Address: 110 N. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant
Hours: Sunday – Wednesday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Thursday: 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Family-owned Pisanello’s Pizza is a staple in the Mt. Pleasant area, providing excellent meals and services to customers for over 50 years. Pisanello’s is known for its lunch buffet and loaded pizzas, with some of the freshest toppings in town.

Rated in Detroit Free Press’ top 27 pizza places in Michigan, customers rave about Pisanello’s crisp-edged pepperoni, friendly staff and simple, yet delicious garlic bread sticks. Check out the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Available TO-GO.

The Bird Bar & Grill
Address: 223 S. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant
Hours: Monday – Saturday: 11:30 a.m.-2 a.m.

The Bird Bar & Grill – Downtown Mt. Pleasant

This family-owned bar and grill has been serving visitors and the community for 85 years and was one of the first local spots to serve craft beer. Throughout the years The Bird Bar & Grill has become a must-stop in Downtown Mt. Pleasant. The bar and grill is known for its drink specials, famous moon bread and great rotating craft beer taps.

MUSTS include the Mediterranean Pizza ad Moon bread made up of herb dough with cheese, pizza sauce and garlic.

AROUND TOWN

The Cabin
Address: 903 W. Broomfield Street, Mt. Pleasant
Hours: Monday-Friday: 4 p.m.-2 a.m.; Saturday: 12 p.m.-2 a.m.; Sunday: 12 p.m.-10 p.m.

Known for its premium pizza, cold drinks  and live music, The Cabin has been providing great service since 1934. This is the place to meet with friends for dinner and drinks. What separates The Cabin from the rest? Its delicious sauce, famous Cabin Sticks and their flavorful, thick and fluffy crusts.  

Get ready for great pizza, great drink specials and fun themed nights, featuring Trivia (Monday) and Karaoke (Thursdays).

Freddie’s Tavern
Address: 705 S Adams Street, Mt. Pleasant
Hours: Monday-Wednesday: 11 a.m.-12 a.m.; Thursday-Saturday: 11 a.m.-2 a.m.; Sunday: 12 p.m.-12 a.m.

Freddie’s Tavern offers a fantastic environment for family and friends to grab a bite to eat. Established in 1981, the Phillips Family is dedicated to providing excellent service and exceptional food to its customers. When’s the best time to order a pie? Freddie’s pizza specials are on Mondays and Saturdays, offering 25% off two-item pizzas!

Apart from its delicious food and drink specials, this relaxed hangout is fully equipped with darts, billiards, air hockey and other bar games. 

Hunter’s Ale House

This is a great spot for large groups, with great specials and activities, including trivia (Tuesdays), karaoke (Wednesdays) and live music every weekend. Call ahead for daily specials!

Blaze Pizza
